What are the causes of Shuttle fly:
The following are the general causes of "Why the Shuttle Flies" on its way from one box to another at the time of weaving-
(1) If the Back Wall of the Shuttle Box is not in the same line as the Reed.
(2) If some Strips of Reed are bent.
(3) If the down layer of Warp-ends does not smoothly touch the Sley Race when the Healds are Depressed.
(4) If the Shed is not clear.
(5) If the Warp Ends are broken and entangled with the others.
(6) Due to waste or tear in Picker or Picking Strap.
(7) Due to defects in Sley Race.
(8) If Picking is done before the full Shed is opened.
(9) If the weft suddenly becomes defective.
(10) If the front and back of the Picker Spindle are at the same level (the front side should be a little bit higher).
(11) If the Warp- ends are loose.
(12) If the Loom is not properly levelled,
(13) If the Suttle is too light in weight.
(14) If the Reed is not properly levelled or set in the Groove or Channel of the Sley.
(15) Defects in the Style of Picking.
(16) Defects in the Style of holding and pushing of Sley.
(17) In somÄ™ cases at the initial stage of using a new Shuttle.
(18) If there are big gaps at both ends of the reed.
(19) If the shuttle boxes and picker are defective.
What are the Causes of warp breakage:
Less the breakages in Warp-ends increases the out-turn and beauty of the Selvedges. Causes of Warp Breakages. The following are the chief-
(1) If the sides and heads of a Shuttle are not smooth.
(2) At the time of shedding if Shed is formed above the Sley-race.
(3 If the Healds do not work smoothly i.e. Uneven shedding.
(4) If there is no Lease Rod or Back Rest,
(5) Due to bad sizing.
(6) If the Reed is rusted.
(8) If the Reed Strips are sharp.
(9) Due to Cross in the Warp as well as in the Shed.
10. Due to Bad Knotting in the Warp threads.
(11) Due to Bad Beaming.
(12) Due to Uneven yarn.
(14) If Size is over dried, the yarn becomes brittle.
(17) Due to improper Warp-tension.
What are the Causes of bad selvedge:
The Beauty of cloth depends upon its Selvedges. The following are the chief causes of "Bad Selvedges"-
(1) Due to inadequate and weak threads in the Selvedges,
(2) Duc to insufficient or more than sufficient drag in Weft.
(3) If Temple is not used where necessary.
(4) If Selvedge yarns are not properly drawn through the Heald. eyes and Dents of the Reed.
(5) If Selvedge yarn is over-loose or over-tight in the Beam. damaged by the Press Roller of Calendar Machine.
(7) Due to Bad Beaming.
(8) Due to Uncven Temple is not properly used (it should remain straight along the "Fell of the Cloth"). (9) If Weft is in any way obstructed within the Shuttle Box. (6) Occasionally Selvedge is Shed.
(10) If there is any defect in the Check Strap.
(11) If the Reed moves Right and Left.
(12) If the Selvedge yarn is not proportionate to Ground Warp and the Weft.
(13) If the Flanges arc displaced both in Weaver's Beam and Back Beam.
What are the Causes of the Reed mark:
The following are the general causes of " Causes of reed mark" at the fabric-
(1) Insufficient Ends per inch.
(2) Defects in Reed,
(3) Incorrect Setting of the Warp-rollers, Timing of Shedding & Picking.
(4) Wrong Weighting of the Warp Beam.
