Impact of Covid-19 on handloom weaver: kargha ke upar corona ka kya asar pada hee

The second largest employment generation from handloom sector after the agriculture. The handloom sector has too been severely affected as with all sector in the economy due to Covid-19 luckdown and shutdown. In India the 4th all India handloom census 2019 says that there are 35.44 lakh handloom weaver are in India. There are only 10% are Master weaver, 30% weaver are work under master weaver and 60% weaver are indipendent, they totally depend on the handloom market or local Haat. Since March 2020 Covid-19 has arrived and the life of weaver totally destroyed. Just after 1 year as it is March 2021 second weave of Covid-19 is ongoing.

The impact of Covid-19 on handloom weaver during luckdown:

1. Mostly those weaver are vastly effected by those who are depend to Market or Local Haat to sell there product.They can't sell so, thay are faced to problems selling their product due to Market and local Haat are closed.

2. Clearence of stock is a big problems among them, even the required raw material is also not available in the market due to Covid-19 luckdown and shutdown. If available they are more expensive.

3. In the area of independent poor weaver they faces the stock clearance at their house, unavailability of raw material ,so their loom stopped, how they survive ?

4. Handloom product totally depend on the people,due to luckdown and shutdown all the handloom Mela and Expo etc are closed, so that the product are not sell. So, that stock is available at weaver. The middleman are not purchased material. What do they?

5. Due to that the daily wages weaver are vastly affected, because of all the habdloom society and wcs are closed. They spend many night without taking food during the covid- 19.

Lastlt not least the handloom weaver were forced to take up odd jobs as vegetables vender or any others , so that also luckdown is another problem to earn money. Due to that the people aren't going out from home. So how can survived?
