         A handloom is a machine that is operated by manpower. So that the Handloom goods are costly than others. But all the profit goes to the direct weaver, there is no middle man.


        There are we mostly the Handloom divided into 4 (Four) types.

1. Primitive Loom :

         It is nothing but a simple hanging frame carrying a Reed in front of the weaver's beam
An example is - Back Stripe loom, loin loom, Vertical loom. It may be also termed as ''Sley less loom."





2. Pit Loom :

This loom is also Two types :

a. Through Shuttle Pit Loom
b. Fly Shuttle Pit Loom 




3. Frame Loom

This is also Two types :

a. Through Shuttle Frame Loom
b. Fly Shuttle  Frame Loom 


4. Semi-Automatic Loom

An example is - Chittaranjan Semi-Automatic  Loom

REED| Definition of Reed: Function of Reed in Handloom      Reed in Handloom – Definition & Functions Definition A Reed (also called a metallic reed or comb) is an essential component of a handloom, fixed to the sley (or slay) with a reed cap.
